Channel 1 Releasing Appoints New Director of Publicity

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Gay multimedia company Channel 1 Releasing has announced its appointment of new Publicity and Promotions Director Tony Adonis.

Adonis will oversee all promotional campaigns, public relations and events for the company, its models and product lines. Adonis also will supervise production and promotion for the DVD series “Club Channel 1.”

“We are so lucky to have someone with Tony’s background and expertise onboard,” C1R partner and legendary director Chi Chi La Rue said. “His experience in mainstream entertainment and porn publicity is really going to elevate Channel 1 Releasing’s image around the world.”

Adonis comes to C1R with extensive experience in media and entertainment as a publicist, journalist, promoter and coordinator.

After relocating to Los Angeles from New York, Adonis managed public relations for gay studio Jet Set Productions. He also teamed with former Jet Set President Brett Drysdale, director Thor Stephans and performer Brad Benton to produce “The Money Shot Report,” a gay industry news report that appeared on YouTube.

For three years, Adonis coordinated and promoted Miami’s White Party, a major HIV/AIDS fundraising event in south Florida.

Most recently, Adonis worked with Bunim/Murray Productions, casting for several reality TV shows including MTV’s “The Real World,” “Road Rules” and “I’m With Rolling Stone Magazine,” as well as E! Entertainment’s “The Simple Life.”

“After years of working with such high-profile companies, I am thrilled to be working with a true gay icon, Chi Chi La Rue, and the world-famous Channel 1 Releasing,” Adonis said. “I look forward to using all of my experience to keep this powerhouse production company at the forefront of the gay entertainment industry. I’ve always been a fan of their movies and sexy stars and now I get the chance to promote all that fabulous sexiness to a worldwide audience. It’s a dream come true.”

Adonis’ hiring comes on the heels of C1R’s recent acquisition of Catalina Video, which according to the company, makes C1R the largest gay-owned and operated adult production company in the world. Other brands under the C1R umbrella include Rascal Video, All Worlds Video, Dirk Yates Private Collection, Pure PiXXX, Electro Video, LiveandRaw.com, ChiChiLaRue.com and ClubChannel1.com.
