Marilyn Chambers Died of Natural Causes

LOS ANGELES — An autopsy has shown that retired adult performer Marilyn Chambers died of complications of heart disease, coroner's officials said today. Chambers was found dead at her Canyon Country-area home April 12.

Los Angeles coroner's officials said at the time of her death that Chambers had likely died of natural causes despite her relatively young age. She was 56.

Autopsy and toxicology tests confirmed she had suffered a cerebral hemorrhage and aneurysm related to heart disease. Toxicology tests showed the presence of the painkiller hydrocodone and the antidepressant Citalopram in her bloodstream, but not in amounts that could have caused her death, according to coroner's officials.

Chambers starred in the 1972 Mitchell Brothers film "Behind the Green Door" at age 19, and worked with the Mitchell Brothers for the follow-up "Resurrection of Eve." She was married to producer Chuck Traynor, who also had been involved with Linda Lovelace, and worked with John C. Holmes in the 1980 adult production "Insatiable." She also appeared the 1977 mainstream independent film "Rabid" for director David Cronenberg.

She returned to adult in "Still Insatiable" for VCA in 1998, and made some instructional videos in 2006-2007 and occasional appearances at industry events.

A memorial service was held for Chambers at Zuma Beach on April 22, which would have been her 57th birthday.
