Free Speech Coalition Shoots Antipiracy PSA Videos

BURBANK, Calif. — Using a cast of adult performers ranging from Ron Jeremy to Joanna Angel, the Free Speech Coalition shot two antipiracy public service video announcements here Monday night.

"This is part of our Anti-Piracy Action Program," FSC Membership Director Joanne Cachapero told XBIZ.

"It's to raise awareness with the consumer. Because we're the adult industry, we have a chance to reach out to the consumer in a way that the mainstream can't. We want to reach out to the consumer through YouTube and websites. We want to viral this on industry members' social networks and websites. Production companies can also put it on their DVDs and websites."

Production space was donated by a mainstream studio.

"They're just as worried about piracy as we are," Cachapero said. "You see these little studios all over L.A. Imagine what would happen to this town if people couldn't go to work because their content is downloaded for free from tube sites."

The two videos shot Monday night had a number of performers presenting a prepared speech against piracy of adult material to be intercut together into a single 60-second speech. A second video was a monologue by performer Charlie Laine.

Adult industry professionals involved in the production included performers Joanna Angel, Lisa Ann, Alektra Blue, Charlie Laine, Sinnamon Love, Ron Jeremy, Kimberly Kane, Kaylani Lei, Julie Meadows, and directors Axel Braun, Cousin Stevie and Will Ryder.

The video was directed by Michael Whiteacre, who wrote the scripts with Cachapero.

"We have to do something to fight piracy," Ryder told XBIZ. "The government isn't going to do it for us."

After the production wrapped, Cachapero told XBIZ that she was pleased with the shoot.

"Everybody donated their time and were enthusiastic about supporting FSC and raising awareness about illegal downloading and what it does to the industry — and we appreciate their contribution," Cachapero said.

The PSAs will be available next month.
