Condoms-only Campaign Hits Adult Talent Agencies

LOS ANGELES — In another attempt to gain support to regulate adult productions, nine adult entertainment talent agencies have been targeted by the AIDS Healthcare Foundation in a letter to the state Labor Board.

A List Media, ATMLA, Gold Star Modeling, LA Direct Models, Lisa Ann’s Talent Management, Metro Talent Management, Spiegler Girls, Type 9 Models Inc. and World Modeling all are named as state-licensed adult-oriented talent agencies that make deals for porn stars who participate in unprotected sex acts.

AHF plans to host a press conference at its Sunset Boulevard offices on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. to address the complaints it has submitted to state regulators.

The nine complaints, AHF said, are supported with printouts from websites of each of the talent agencies that describe the sex acts. AHF said that the agencies represent anywhere from approximately 30 to as many as 140 models and performers each, with a mix of male and female performers.

The AHF pointed to A List Media as one of the agencies that it has taken a closer look at and showed off to the press one of the complaint letters.

“A List Talent is not only sending its artists to work sites that are likely to endanger their health, A List Talent is creating the threat itself by creating a website that allows producers of pornography to search for actresses by specific high-risk sexual acts,” the AHF said in the letter.

“It is reckless for these agents to jeopardize the health of their clients by encouraging and profiting from the unsafe, potentially life-threatening behavior of the models and performers they represent,” said Michael Weinstein, president of AIDS Healthcare Foundation. “We are asking the California Labor Commissioner to investigate and crack down on the illegal behavior of these state-licensed agencies.”
