CHICAGO — Heartbreaker Films on Thursday filed a porn BitTorrent suit against 71 John Doe defendants.
Heartbreaker, co-owned by performer Nina Mercedez and based in Santa Clarita, Calif., filed the copyright infringement suit against the unnamed defendants for allegedly trading the film "Sexual Obsession," which was the fourth film for the company and released in March.
In "Sexual Obsession," Sophia Santi, who stars in the video, appears in all five scenes, performing her first boy/girl work.
The suit, filed by the law firm Steele Hansmeier, was filed at U.S. District Court in Chicago.
Like many of the suits the firm files on behalf of adult entertainment companies, it contends that its joinder of defendants throughout the country is proper because the court has personal jurisdiction over non-residents under the so-called Illinois long-arm statute.
The suit seeks court approval to identify the 71 Doe defendants through subpoenas through their Internet service providers.
