XBIZ TV: Joanna Angel Talks Career, Rise of BurningAngel

LOS ANGELES — XBIZ TV on Friday debuted an exclusive new video interview with adult film star Joanna Angel.

The native of New Jersey discussed how her BurningAngel empire all started with a 4 a.m. conversation with one of her college roommates while she was attending Rutgers University in New Brunswick, N.J.

“That’s really how it happened and that was 10 years ago which is kind of crazy,” Angel said.

She recalled the humble beginnings of BurningAngel.com, which launched with five amateur photo sets, a couple of band interviews and a few erotic fiction stories that Angel wrote in her English class.

“And then everything spawned out of that,” she continued. “... It was kind of like a weird experiment. I had no idea it was eventually going to be a real company.”

The popularity of the BurningAngel brand has led to eight spinoff sites including CumOnMyTattoo.com, PunkPorn.com and HeavyMetalPussyParty.com. And Angel has shown more than just a flair for performing. She is also a producer, director, feature dancer, blogger and company owner.

“The fact that I have such a great team of people that all believe in BurningAngel just as much as I do who work their asses off, that’s really what makes it possible for me to go on the road, do conventions and dance, and do interviews and stuff,” she said.

Angel, who recently released the interracial title “School of Black Cock,” has produced and directed more than 60 titles and performed in more than 100 during her career.

“I know the type of porn I make is not mainstream, so I know that I have to work 10 times harder to get as far as everybody else,” she said humbly. “So I’m always putting in the extra energy. I think that’s how I got to where I am — just hard work. Nothing’s ever been handed to me.”
