MADRID — Ex-porn star Sasha Grey has been cast in acclaimed Spanish filmmaker Nacho Vigalondo’s new high-concept thriller "Open Windows."
The film, now shooting in Madrid, marks Vigalondo's English-language debut and costars Elijah Wood ("Lord of the Rings") and British actor Neil Maskell ("Basic Instinct 2").
Grey plays an actress abducted by a sadistic madman known as Chord (Maskell). Wood is the man trying desperately to find her. The project is produced by Wild Bunch, Apaches Entertainment and Antena 3 Film.
"Open Windows" will be shot in real time and utilize footage from webcams, tablets, mobile phones, satellite and security cams to tell its story, which will be presented to viewers as if they're watching a laptop window.
"We will be representing a computer desktop," Wild Bunch Sales Manager Vincent Maraval told ScreenDaily.com. "The movie screen becomes a computer screen, and the spectator becomes the protagonist of this adventure."
Since quitting the adult industry in 2010, Grey has starred in a string of notable mainstream projects, including Steven Soderbergh's "The Girlfriend Experience," HBO's "Entourage" and the upcoming horror films "Would You Rather" and "The Scribbler."
