WASHINGTON — The Food and Drug Administration today posted six more advisories warning consumers about sexual enhancement products.
Today's blacklisting of six brands of penis pills is the largest number announced at one time by the federal regulatory agency. So far, the FDA has blacklisted 20 penis pills, including the six today, since January.
The latest products earning the FDA' s disapproval include Nights to Remember, X Zen Platinum, Cave Diver, Reload, Get It Up and Super Cheetah.
The penis pills, marketed as 100 percent herbal, are sold online and at retail shops.
But with each of the brands, FDA laboratory analysis confirmed that they contained trace amounts of sildenafil or tadalafil or both.
The drugs may interact with nitrates found in some prescription drugs such as nitroglycerin and may lower blood pressure to dangerous levels. Men with diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol or heart disease often take nitrates.
