Kink.com Private Webcam Session Auction Tops $40K

SAN FRANCISCO — An auction for a private one-hour cam session with Kink.com director Maitresse Madeline has ended at $42,000, after an Australian fan won with top bid, Kink.com announced today.

The company said it believes the amount is the highest ever paid in the growing adult webcam industry.

“Webcams are one of the bright spots in the adult industry,” Kink founder Peter Acworth, said. “They allow performers to really be entrepreneurs, and to reap the rewards. Madeline’s an incredible Domme, and she’s really earned this.”

The special two-week auction was a first for Kink.com, and a test of a new format for adult entertainment. Bidding was competitive from the start, but it wasn’t until the third day, when bids first passed $10,000, that the company said it knew they had tapped into something big. By the end of the auction, four separate bidders were competing in the tens of thousands of dollars.

“I've never heard of any other adult performer making this kind of money for a cam show,” Madeline said in an interview at Kinky.com. “By the time we reach these high end bid amounts we're dealing with another level of customer. These types of customers are willing to pay for the performer they want, when they want and how they want [it].”

Kink noted that at an hourly rate, $42,000 puts Madeline in league with pop stars like Lady Gaga and Oprah.

Madeline said that the auction on Kink’s Divine Bitches site was bridge between traditional “recorded content,” adult film, and the burgeoning webcam industry. She said that in the future she’ll be working with other dommes on interactive auctions featuring everything from webcam shows to pantyhose auctions and chastity keyholding services.

“Working with Divine Bitches will give these women instant exposure to thousands of serious fans of femdom,” Madeline added. “The auction and the infrastructure built to support this kind of auction was the first offering of the project to roll out and go live. I'm thrilled with the result.”
