WASHINGTON — Who knew Sears.com sold penis pills? Apparently, the Food and Drug Administration had a watchful eye.
On Tuesday, the FDA issued a new advisory warning over O.M.G., a penis pill that the regulatory agency said was sold at Sears.com, as well as retail stores, because of undeclared ingredients.
"FDA laboratory analysis confirmed that O.M.G. contains sildenafil, the active ingredient in the FDA-approved prescription drug Viagra, used to treat erectile dysfunction," the FDA said in a statement.
The FDA in its advisory warned consumers to stop using O.M.G. immediately and throw it away.
Sears.com through the years had turned into a large marketplace, a flea mart on the web that sells almost anything under the sun and, not surprisingly, for sexual health.
The website, a division of Sears, Roebuck & Co. that was founded by Richard Warren Sears and Alvah Curtis Roebuck in 1893 as a mail order catalog, has an immense sexual health section.
A search of "sexual enhancements" turned up more than 500 items on Sears.com.
