Paparazzi had triple the opportunities for photos with stars including Ron Jeremy, Stormy Daniels, Jesse Jane, Belladonna, Sasha Grey, Evan Stone, Mr. Marcus, among others, as they were filmed for a mainstream movie project and did three takes on the red carpet.
A barrage of flashing cameras illuminated the faces of more than 300 show attendees who gathered round to watch the consumer show’s main event, as they packed in with photographers and video crews who were jockeying for position.
When asked what it’s like to put on the FAME Awards, organizer Mike Moz commented on the well-managed chaos.
“Fun, exhilarating, tiring — but its worth it, though,” Moz said. “It’s great to see the fans, and the people that make this business work getting rewarded for their hard work. There’s no politics involved in the FAME Awards; it’s a popularity contest and it’s nice to be popular.”
Waiting to take their turn on the carpet, bald directors DCypher and Eli Cross compared tips on how to shave, prompting starlet Trina Michaels to rub their shiny heads as DCypher and Cross pressed their faces to her large, round breasts.
Mega starlet Bree Olson told XBIZ she was nominated for Favorite Female Rookie and Dirtiest Girl in Porn, a dubious double honor for the popular new star.
“This would be the sixth or seventh newbie award,” Olsen said. “I’d be excited if I won it, because this award is more about publicizing yourself and talking to fans, and everything — but I didn’t do any of that. So, if I win, I’ll be like boo-ya! I have a lot of stiff competition for Dirtiest Girl in Porn. I don’t do double-penetration and the other girls do, so … but I’m super-nasty, so we’ll see what happens.”
Expectant mom Eva Angelina accompanied Brooke Haven into the show. Haven was nominated for Favorite Underrated Star.
“I never expect to win. I’m happy to be nominated and be a part of everything,” she said.
The Digital Playground girls showed up en masse, followed by Wicked Pictures contract performer Jessica Drake and director Brad Armstrong.
Drake was sporting a midriff-baring Los Angeles Lakers outfit, but said she wasn’t sure if she would make it to the team’s first playoff game in L.A., which happens on Thursday.
“I haven’t been asked yet and, as far as I knew, I thought I was working. But now I have the opportunity to go,” Drake said. She also promised to streak through the Lakers’ locker room, if it improved her odds of getting tickets to the game.
Vivid-Ed director Penny Flame was seen backstage, going off for the Rude TV camera crew, as she did an impressions and cracked jokes. Performing a weird chicken dance, she flashed her pink panties and dramatically dry-humped Rude TV host Nicki Hunter.
“I’m nominated for Most Orgasmic Cocksucker or some such thing,” Flame said, “or Orally Inclined Cocksucking Wench — is that a category?”
Flame, who was accompanied by statuesque starlet Sophi Santi, said that in all likelihood, her panties would be off by the end of the evening and that she might also perform oral on Santi, live onstage.
Starlet Ashlynn Brooke bubbled over as she accepted the first award of the night, for Best Breasts. The form-fitting green dress she wore showed off exactly what made her a winner. It was the first award received by Brooke at a live show event.
“It’s humbling to be nominated,” Brooke said, “but when you win, it’s really cool.”
A special presentation was made to Vivid Entertainment owner Steven Hirsch, for Best Renting Title of the Year, for “Debbie Does Dallas … Again.”
Backstage, Hirsch spoke about the diversity of Vivid’s product line as one of the reasons the studio has stayed solidly entrenched in a transitional time for the industry. With remakes of “Debbie Does Dallas” and “Devil in Miss Jones” already in the company’s catalog, Hirsch talked about an upcoming remake of the iconic classic “Deep Throat.”
“We’re going into production on ‘Deep Throat,’ and that’s a great trio. There’s one more out there, ‘Behind the Green Door,’ but we’re going to do ‘Deep Throat’ first,” Hirsch told XBIZ.
“We know who the star [of ‘Deep Throat’] is going to be, and that’s Sasha Grey,” he added. “Not only can she deep throat, but she’s immensely talented and we think she’ll do a fantastic job.”
“Let’s face it these are difficult times,” Hirsch continued. “There’s a massive amount of free content out there on the Internet and it makes things difficult to get back your investment. You gotta be clever and you gotta work hard.”
Veteran performers Amber Lynn and Bionca Seven presented the award for Best Director to Stormy Daniels.
Lynn took a moment to make an appeal to industry members in the audience, to volunteer for a benefit DVD titled “We Are the World XXX,” being produced on behalf of the Henri Pachard Cancer Fund. Production will take place on June 10-11.
“I saw an opportunity to be of service, and that’s how I got to do ‘We Are the World XXX,’” Lynn said. “Everyone who’s involved in it is involved because they love Ron Sullivan [Henri Pachard] and there’s a lot of emotion involved around what’s happening.”
Best Director Daniels, who won for “Operation Desert Stormy,” was already looking forward to the second in the series, “Operation Tropical Stormy.”
“We’ve got to make it bigger and better, so that I can get another one,” Daniels said, smiling.
The feel good moment of the awards show came when Brooke Haven received the Favorite Underrated Performer award and was moved to tears.
“It means a lot,” said Haven, who could barely speak. “It just shows that if you do work really hard, it pays off and if you take the business seriously, people will see that.”
Evil Angel’s Karen Stagliano and director Belladonna accepted the award for Favorite Studio.
“We’re super happy because the fans are the one that purchase the product and that’s the validation,” Stagliano said.
Bree Olson, who did bring home the Best Female Rookie award appeared backstage with Sunny Lane. Both starlets will appear in Adam & Eve/Zero Tolerance Entertainment’s upcoming blockbuster release “RollerDollz.”
“I love it,” said Olson, cradling her award. “You’d think the excitement would go away after the first few, but I’m still so excited. I’m so happy and I really appreciate it.”
The night’s big winner was Tera Patrick who, once again, took Favorite Female Starlet, with her company Teravision taking Favorite Gonzo Movie for “InTERActive,” produced with Hustler.
