MTV Announces Casting Call for Industry Members

NEW YORK — MTV documentary show “True Life” has put out a casting call for industry members between the ages of 18 to 28 who are not performers, to appear in an episode titled “True Life: I'm In the Sex Industry.”

The show, produced by Left/Right Inc., put out a casting call in June, but then was notified by MTV that they want non-performers to appear in the episode.

“We want people who work behind the camera or have a job that is crucial to the sex industry but not in the obvious way,” Left/Right’s Ana Cordova told XBIZ. “For example; a set P.A., an erotica writer for a magazine or someone who works on the corporate end of the sex industry.”

The award-winning documentary series has been on the air since 1988 featuring young people with unusual lives. Produced from a youth culture perspective with subjects varying in points of view, the series often takes on compelling topics, like credit card debt, crystal meth addiction, autism, Tourette’s Syndrome and interracial relationships, as well as lighter subjects like competitive eating, professional gaming and sumo wrestling.

This will be the first time the show has approached the topic of the adult industry.

Show participants can be from anywhere within the U.S. and Cordova is looking for prospective cast members to respond to the casting call as soon as possible.

“We are accepting candidates from anywhere within the U.S. Since this is a documentary series we go to them and follow them around as they share their own unique story,” Cordova said. “Time commitment varies depending on what’s going on in their lives. It is not shot all at once, just at key moments of their story. On average the crew is with them on and off for 10 days.”

For more information, email Ana Cordova at acordova@leftright.tv . Be sure to include your name, age, location, phone number and a photo, if possible.
