The exhibition will be at Femina Potens Art Gallery in San Francisco Oct. 9-26. An opening reception is scheduled for Thursday from 7-10 p.m. The exhibition is sponsored by lesbian studio Abigail Productions.
The exhibition will be interactive, “from designing nipples for Laura Drugal’s reconstructive surgery to witnessing the live body casting of breast cancer survivors,” according to a statement.
Adult star Madison Young, Femina Potens founder and the exhibition’s curator, will be selling a limited number of autographed posters of her Erotic Breast Self Exam.
For Young, owner of Madison Bound Productions, the subject of breast cancer is a personal one.
“I’ve watched as my friends and family members have battled breast cancer,” Young said in a statement. “Bringing together a body of artists who are all creating art around visibility of breast cancer, survival, strength and unity within our community allows us to dialogue and take action around this disease.”
Artists whose work will be on display include Annie Sprinkle, Elizabeth Stephens, Jennifer Clary, Laura Drugal, Mary Ellen Scherel and Talia Green.
