Australian Distributor Acquires Rights to Adult Industry Documentary

SYDNEY, Australia — Australian distributor Beyond Films this week acquired rights to German-language adult industry documentary “9 to 5 Days in Porn.”

The documentary premiered at the Montreal World Film Festival in August. Written, directed and produced by German filmmaker Jens Hoffman, it features 10 adult industry members and examines their goals and dreams, as well as their lives before the industry and the affect of their careers on their lives.

The Beyond Films deal was reported Monday on the website of Hollywood trade magazine Variety.

The subjects in the documentary include performers Belladonna, Sasha Grey, Katja Kassin, Mia Rose, Roxy DeVille, Audrey Hollander and husband Otto Bauer, as well as Adult Industry Healthcare founder Sharon Mitchell, directors/producers John Stagliano and Jim Powers, and agent Mark Speigler, among other industry personalities.

The film’s trailer can be viewed at its website.

Produced for Jens Hoffman’s film company, F24 Films, the production crew followed their subjects for more than 18 months, including footage shot at two consecutive Adult Entertainment Expos, as well as filming in Los Angeles and at the homes of several of the performers.

Based in Germany, Hoffman has been making films since the early ‘90s and currently produces corporate and commercial films, as well as documentary projects often dealing with controversial topics.

“9 to 5 Days in Porn” is his longest documentary to date, at 113 minutes. It also includes a soundtrack of music from independent and mainstream musicians, which has been called “extraordinary” by reviewers that have previewed the film.

Hoffman has won multiple film festival awards with other documentaries, including 2007’s “20 Seconds of Joy,” and “Fatima’s Hand” in 2006.
