BDSM Store, Others Pledge Aid to Victims of Hurricane Katrina

CLARKSTON, Mich. – In the wake of the Hurricane Katrina tragedy, the BDSM Store, one of the oldest online retail sources for bondage gear and sex toys, pledged to donate 10 percent of its sales for the month of September to the victims of the flood-ravaged Gulf Coast.

The donations will be handed over to the American Red Cross to aid victims who were forced to evacuate and who will be displaced from their homes for several months.

The employees of the BDSM Store also have all made personal donations to the Red Cross, and the BDSM Store has made an additional donation to the Humane Society to help with rescuing the pets that have been left behind.

The BDSM Store also is challenging competitors in the adult industry to step up their efforts to help.

“These people are going to need lots and lots of help for a long time,” BDSM Store spokesperson Jessica Ledbetter said. “Not only were houses wiped out and personal possessions lost, many of the businesses that provided jobs to the people in these affected areas have also been wiped out as well. It is a time to help your fellow citizens and give back. It a time for all of us to help those suffering an extreme hardship.”

Other recently announced pledges to hurricane victims came from BDSM adult e-zine Darker Pleasures, which is donating 50 percent of all new subscriptions collected through the Labor Day weekend to the American Red Cross Hurricane Katrina Disaster Relief fund.

Lindamight.com is donating 10 percent of membership fees received during the month of September to the American Red Cross, and Bliss Interactive Media's new site, 3D-Bliss, also is contributing to the relief efforts by donating 100 percent of its profits from new membership signups for the months of September and October.

Raging Stallion Studios will be giving $10 from every sale from its website and mailing list to the Red Cross Flood Relief fund, and company co-founder J.D. Slater will be organizing a series of fundraisers that will feature performers from his new Centurion Pictures XXX division.

DirtyBoyStudios, the retail DVD arm of DirtyBoyVideo.com, will donate 70 percent of all DVD sales during the month of September to the Red Cross.

Fitzgerald Multimedia will be donating 10 percent of profits from its website sales for the month of September to the Red Cross, which includes sales from the Julie Robbins and Joselyn Pink websites as well as the Amateurs in Vegas website.

Additionally, Fitzgerald Multimedia will donate 10 percent of all online DVD sales from its DVD store for Spungy Gunk Films for the month of September.
