According to an unnamed government official, although the government has made "notable progress" in the crackdown, a number of sites have sidestepped warnings from the government by changing their websites' appearances or URLs. To remedy the situation, the government is offering unspecified, yet reportedly valuable rewards to people who report "lewd" content they find on the web.
Since the crackdown began on Jan. 5, the government has closed 1,911 websites and detained 41 people accused of "promulgating porn online."
