Credited for his innovative acting and directing, Blade is a former musician who played bass for Dial 7, a band that has opened for the Foo Fighters, Incubus, Run DMC and No Doubt.
After parlaying his career from rock and roll into adult entertainment, Blade appeared in several films before becoming a gonzo director. He also is the recipient of two AVN awards, one for best actor and the other for best three-way.
“His work is nothing short of spectacular to watch,” Sin City said of the young director, crediting his reliability, acting skills, and “natural boyish charm” to his popularity and command of gonzo-style adult filmmaking.
Sin City Entertainment General Manager Scott Justice made the contract offer to Blade after viewing sample footage of his work.
“I was really impressed by his first show,” Justice said. “We gave Barrett a chance and he did not disappoint me at all. He came through with flying colors. I feel that Barrett’s creativity, camera work, direction and distinct style is exactly what we needed for the Mayhem line right now.”
Blade’s first Mayhem film, “Smokin’ Crack,” will hit the streets on Oct. 5, followed by “P.O.V. Multiples,” set for a Nov. 2 release.
“I wanted to show another side to my work that focused on hardcore,” Blade said. “I think a lot of people are going to be shocked by the intensity of what I put out. I’ve been planning this one for a while, and I can’t wait to see it happen.”
