Peekay Stores Donate to Planned Parenthood

AUBURN, Wash. — Peekay, Inc., which operates adult boutique stores under the names Lovers, A Touch of Romance and Condom Revolution in Washington and California, donated 5 cents for every condom sold during national Condom Week, Feb. 14-21, to Planned Parenthood of Great Northwest.

Peekay cofounder Phyllis Heppenstall presented the $1,230 check to Lu Arendt, vice president of external affairs for Planned Parenthood of the Great Northwest.

"'Lovers' is proud to work with the local groups to continue consumer education and awareness," Heppenstall said. "We thank our employees and our customers for this great success."

Peekay Inc. was started in 1980 by Heppenstall and her daughter Kris Butt as an in-home party plan program. The company's first retail store was opened in 1981, and it now operates more than 30 retail locations, a wholesale division, manufacturing division, and Internet division with more than 175 part-time and full-time employees.

Corporate headquarters and warehouse operations are located in Auburn, Washington.
