Cult Epics is a purveyor of vintage and art house erotica. The company produces contemporary European films and offers a collection of 20th century black-and-white nude shorts.
"After being banned with our XXX releases by mainstream distributor Ryko Distribution, we decided to look for an adult distributor of our classic hardcore titles," a Cult Epics rep told XBIZ. "Dynasty Distribution seems an excellent choice due to the product they are already carrying."
Dynasty Group Distribution President Jon Islas said the addition of Cult Epics' diverse titles is an excellent fit to the library of classics from adult studios Standard Digital, Cal Vista and VCX, which his company also exclusively distributes.
"When I looked over the movies that Cult Epics had in their library, I was impressed," he said. "These erotic movies, from current Tinto Brass to vintage clips made long before the X-rated Golden Age, are exceptionally rare and unique.
“Cult Epics presents cutting-edge, high-end films as well as a glimpse into vintage erotica when it was still new and fresh with girls who often just did one movie, never to be heard from again. Their movies are something truly exceptional."
The Cult Epics library also includes the works of Italian erotic director Tinto Brass and films by Irving Klaw, the photographer of legendary pinup and fetish model Bettie Page. In addition, the company offers movies from Parisian adult pioneer Mr. X, who photographed prostitutes in bordellos in the early 1900s and American loops of film spanning from the ’30s to the ’70s.
According to Cult Epics' representative, the company was founded 18 years ago by Nico B in Amsterdam. He moved to the U.S. in 1998 and continued distribution in Los Angeles.
The March 2006 issue of women’s magazine Jane listed Cult Epics’ “Vintage Erotica Collection” as one of the nine “must-have” adult DVDs for female readers looking to spice up their sex lives.
