As any serious follower of adult knows by now, the movie stars adult performer Sasha Grey in an above-the-title role as a high-priced call girl. The movie had a surprise premiere at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival and has so far been getting good reviews.
The trailer, which is available at Hulu.com, presents Grey's character as a regular girl at first, with onscreen text that says, "This is Christine. She is 22 years old. She has a boyfriend."
But Grey's character makes $2,000 an hour as a high-end prostitute. According to online reports, the movie jumps around a nonlinear narrative as Christine tries to hold down a relationship with her live-in boyfriend and find a foothold in a shaky economy. The story takes place over five days leading up to the 2008 presidential election.
Magnolia Pictures is teaming up with 2929 Productions to produce the movie, which rolled out its official poster earlier this month.
The movie has two premiere dates: It'll bow through the On Demand VOD service on April 30 and in theaters in New York and Los Angeles on May 22.
