Sexpo Comes to Perth Today

PERTH, Australia — Australian adult exhibition Sexpo will run May 21-24 at the Perth Convention Exhibition Centre.

“It’s a four-day public event that looks at all aspects of adult fun and entertainment, sexuality, health, and adult lifestyles," Sexpo General Manager Rob Godwin said. "It gives people access to a huge amount of adult shopping, fun activities and non-stop entertainment, all in one convenient location."

As many as 35,000 attendees are expected over the four days, with more than 180 stands and 60 different companies exhibiting and offering products and services.

“Many companies are from Western Australia, so support your local business," Godwin said. "Stimulate the economy, stimulate your bedroom.”

Sexpo started in 1996 in Melbourne, and exhibitions have taken place in Melbourne, Sydney. Perth, Adelaide and Brisbane, as well as cities in South Africa, on an irregular schedule, annually in some cities and less frequently in others.

This week in Perth, The Australian Sex Party will be looking for a candidate to represent Western Australia from "the country’s most progressive political party." Party organizer Fiona Patten will speak at Sexpo and recruit new party members in a drive to change Western Australia’s current legislation, which prohibits commercial sale of adult material.

Live shows will be headlined by comedian Russell Gilbert, who will share hosting duties with Miss Nude Australia and Penthouse Pet Suzie Q. Acts will include the Sexpo Showgirls, Badboys Australia’s Menno Van Kampen and ‘penile artist’ Pricasso.

A "Women’s Wonderland," a dedicated area just for women, will show luxury toys, lingerie, hair and make up, topless "Badboys" and photo studios. The "Laporium" promises continuous lap dances and pole dancing. Other activities include strip poker competitions, amateur strip shows, the Sportsheets Kinky Couples Olympics, hypnotist Mark Anthony, pole dance lessons, and the Sexpo Pole Dancing Championships.

The Perth Convention Exhibition Centre is located at 21 Mounts Bay Road in Perth. The show hours are 12 p.m.-11 p.m. Thursday, 11 am.-12 a.m. Friday and Saturday, and 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are available online or at the door.
