VSDA Show Returns to the Venetian for 2006

ENCINO, Calif. — The Video Software Dealers Association (VSDA) has announced that it will hold its Home Entertainment 2006 convention July 11-13 at the Venetian Resort Hotel Casino in Las Vegas.

Home Entertainment 2006 marks the VSDA’s 25th annual convention.

“As VSDA gears up for its 25th annual convention, the home entertainment industry has never been stronger,” said Liz Crawford, group show director. “What began as a handful of fiercely independent entrepreneurs has become a huge $24 billion-a-year business in which some of the world's largest retailers … are ardent sellers of DVDs.”

Crawford said that in addition to bringing together video and software makers with retailers, Home Entertainment 2006 also will give attendees the opportunity to learn more about potential growth areas such as high definition and alternative delivery methods.

Spokesperson Carrie Dieterich said that the VSDA is bringing the event back to the Venetian based on the success of last year’s show. “The Venetian's expansive exhibit suites and attractive guest room rates present us with the best opportunity to have another very successful event,” she said.

Established in 1981, the not-for-profit VSDA represents more than 1,000 companies in the U.S. and Canada. Its members operate more than 11,500 retail outlets in the U.S. that sell and/or rent DVDs, VHS cassettes and video games, as well as several hundred video distributors and film studios, both mainstream and adult.
