Wordpress Gets Its Own App Store

LOS ANGELES — Wordpress is getting into the app store game.

Australian-based tech company Incsub has unified and codified the development community behind the expanding list of Wordpress plugins, extensions and add-ons. They'll all funnel into WPPlugins.com, which is self-billing itself as the "Wordpress App Store."

Along with many open-source content-managers, Wordpress fulfills a need in the adult industry for fast, easily maintained websites. Hundreds of adult blogs run on the platform, and XBIZ World magazine highlights WordPress plugins in its monthly "WordPress Plug" column.

Unlike much of the Wordpress community, all of which is open-source and much of which is free, WPPlugins.com is a money-making endeavor.

Developers can offer their plugins through two pricing platforms. Users can either buy the plugin as-is for one price, or they can subscribe to the plugin and receive periodic updates and personal support from the programmer.

To get involved with the site, programmers have to sign up for a developer account and submit their work. After a vetting process, the app will appear on the site. Incsub will monitor all submissions to remove any malicious content.
