Apple Tablet, iPhone 4.0 Expected to Debut Next Week

SAN FRANCISCO — The Apple tablet computer is expected to be shown off next week at an invitation-only event.

A contingent of reporters received emails for the Jan. 27 event saying, "Come see our latest creation."

Apple’s new 10- or 11-inch touch-screen tablet computer reportedly will begin shipping next month. The Wall Street Journal said that there are at least two different finishes for the device that Apple is either still deciding on or perhaps planning to charge different prices for each.

The touch-screen video display with wireless access will sell for about $1,000, according to industry analysts.

Some speculate that the device may be called the iSlate after MacRumors reported that the iSlate.com domain name was owned by Apple.

It also is expected that Apple rolls out iPhone 4.0 at the press conference.

Apple’s event is slated for the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Theater in San Francisco on Jan. 27 at 10 a.m.
