New Porn Stars Sought at Love Shack Stores

ATLANTA — If Playboy does it, why not an adult chain in Georgia?

The Love Shack isn’t the first adult business to hold a contest for aspiring porn stars, but it is the first to hold the contest in its home state, a bold move from a conservative locale that, along with Alabama, Mississippi, Indiana, Texas, Louisiana and Virginia, outlaws the sale of sex toys.

And isn’t exactly known for its Southern hospitality towards the adult film world.

Nonetheless, interested Georgia girls can enter via the store’s primary website for a chance to win $1,000 and appear in a scene in an adult video.

David Oblas, director of marketing and promotions at The Love Shack, said the prize also includes a free three-day trip to Los Angeles, where the video will be shot.

“We did not specify gender, so we have had about 40 guys enter the contest,” Oblas said. “Sorry guys. This contest is only for girls.”

Although Oblas did not stipulate any age requirements — aside from the obvious 18 plus — he said the store was looking for women with “girl next door” appeal, no doubt in reference to Playboy TV’s popular “Sexy Girls Next Door” series.

Actresses with previous experience in adult films also need not apply.

Oblas said the contest would run until the middle of February, with the final winner picked via a judging format like the one popularized by the “American Idol” TV series.

In September, Los Angeles-based The Studio (formerly Xotic Studios) and porn producer J Bizel also capitalized on an adult-version of “American Idol” with its “America’s Top Porn Idol” contest.

“America’s Top Porn Idol” works much like the popular TV show that inspired it, showcasing aspiring adult actresses online and giving viewers the opportunity to vote for their favorite one at AmericasTopPornIdol.com.

Meanwhile, Playboy’s “Sexy Girls Next Door” series, which features amateurs competing to be a Playboy model, has grown into one of the company’s most successful original series. So far the channel has aired 66 episodes of the show.
