AEBN Introduces New Silverlight Media Player to Theaters

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — AEBN launches its new Silverlight Media Player across its network of theaters.

According to the company, the new Silverlight Media Player is a theater application that allows customers to watch movies, access saved favorites and new recommendations without leaving the all-in-one player. The company says the player allows members more efficient access to movies and scenes they’re interested in, with minimal steps needed to find, save, sort and view media.

"This is a huge step forward for VOD," says Jerry Anders, AEBN's vice president of sales and marketing. "Our new Silverlight player creates a seamless customer experience that minimizes their need to move between a player and the website, so they can watch movies more easily."

In addition, users will still be able to choose previous player options, such as Windows Media or Real Player.

"The Silverlight player is really the ultimate solution," Anders said. "Given its cross-browser capabilities and the features we're able to offer with it, it was easy to see that Silverlight was the answer to some issues we've encountered in the past decade."

Microsoft's Silverlight is a development platform used for creating rich media and business applications for the web, desktop and mobile devices.

Silverlight is a free plug-in powered by the .NET framework that is compatible across multiple browsers, devices and operating systems including Macs. Microsoft Silverlight must be installed on a customer's computer in order to use the new media player.
