The company said the movie has garnered a spotlight report on TMZ’s internationally broadcasted show and “massive traffic” on comedy site FunnyOrDie.
Additional features appeared in the May 28 edition of Entertainment Weekly magazine, as well as VH1’s BestWeekEver.tv, MonstersAndCritics.com, MovieLine.com, JamesGunn.com and more.
The hype is causing a spike in sales for adult retailers and distributors, New Sensations said.
Alexandra H., public relations manager for distributor IVD said, “When an adult movie gets significant mainstream publicity, it’s inevitable that store owners start getting more requests from their customers to stock the title, and that trickles down to our IVD sales reps getting more orders. So far, New Sensations’ ‘The Golden Girls: A XXX Parody’ is selling well, and we can correlate that to mainstream buzz, for sure!”
Belle Casten, New Sensations’ vice president of global sales said, “We are finding that a large percentage of those purchasing ‘The Golden Girls: A XXX MILF Parody’ are first time porn buyers. The publicity created from media like TMZ is producing interest within largely untapped markets. In turn, there is a trickle down effect increasing visibility and sales for all our titles.”
