Firefox 4 Beta Features Tab Manager, Sync

CYBERSPACE — The fourth beta of Firefox 4 launched with added bookmark and password synchronization and Panorama, a new tool to organize tabs.

Panorama allows users to group tabs; and when users open a tab they only see those tabs within the group.

Firefox Sync is not a new feature for Mozilla. The service that keeps bookmarks, passwords, browser history, open tabs and other data consistent across multiple computers was introduced in 2007, however Firefox Beta 4 has the function incorporated into the browser.

Beta 4 also features hardware acceleration with the Windows-only feature turned off, leaving it up to users to configure the browser by following instructions posted on Mozilla’s website.

Firefox 4 is slated for an October release.

Firefox 4 Beta 4 can be downloaded for Windows, Mac and Linux from Mozilla’s site in 35 different languages.
