Hush Hush, Shane's World Separate

LOS ANGELES — Hush Hush Entertainment and Shane’s World on Monday announced that their companies have separated, ending a nearly three-year distribution and licensing agreement. In making the announcement, both studios indicated plans to continue to produce the type of product that fans have to come expect from each established brand, while Shane’s World has also announced it has brought back respected industry veteran Megan Stokes as part owner and company president.

Hush Hush Entertainment is home to popular series such as “Whitezilla” and “Blackzilla” and has been a force in the interracial DVD and internet market in recent years. Shane’s World may be most known for its long-running “College Invasion” series but its original line, the Shane’s World series, is a pioneer in the reality niche and has resonated in the couples market.

The partnership which started in December of 2007 helped both brands establish themselves in new markets.

“Our irreverent style is at the forefront of all of our movies,” Hush Hush CEO Andrew S. said. “From ‘Whitezilla’ to our interracial Hush Hush and Bone Digital titles and our white-on-white and fetish titles from Voodoo House, fans can expect only great things in the future. We’re especially excited about our groundbreaking interactive VSEX project that is going to revolutionize the way fans get to interact with their favorite stars.”

Stokes is thrilled to return to Shane’s World and has big plans for the company.

“I think if you have ever met me you are aware of how big a place in my heart I have for the Shane’s World brand,” Stokes said. “When this opportunity presented itself to me it was a no-brainer. We had some great long talks about the direction of the company and knew we would do best going back to our roots of being a boutique, fan-centric brand. We quickly decided to have Camera Guy and original team rejoin the company and they will soon be producing new Shane's World and ‘College Invasion’ movies. We also have some fantastic ideas for some new series that only the Shane’s World team could produce.”

Stokes continued, “Since the end of the partnership we have been flattered with tons of strategic offers from some fantastic companies. It’s all about choosing the right company to partner with in order to foster a proper team environment. I am very excited to soon be able to announce those partners.

“We are fortunate to still have such a strong fan base that is still demanding new product. Even the outpouring of support we have seen from the industry has been tremendous. I quickly realized I am just one of many that hold a special place in my heart for the brand.”

Shane’s World’s Camera Guy, meanwhile, shared his excitement about returning.

"I am extremely excited to return to Shane's World,” he said. “It's been two years since I've been away and even though the business has changed, we're ready to evolve with it.”

Shane’s World also has a toy line through Cal-Exotics that caters to a “new-to-toys” customer base by using less threatening, colorful designs. In business for more than 14 years, Shane’s World has enjoyed mainstream coverage from publications such as Rolling Stone magazine. It was also featured in the Abercrombie and Fitch catalog.

Hush Hush said it would continue to distribute Shane’s World until Sept. 20.

“We wish them all the best in their future endeavors,” Andrew S. said. “It’s a different industry than it was just three years ago, that’s the biggest challenge everyone’s facing right now, but we’ve worked hard to succeed at adapting to the ever-changing market, and will continue to do so.”

Hush Hush also announced that as part of its commitment to bring the “Blacks On Blondes” and “Dogfart” content to the DVD market, the company is unveiling a new title called “Blacks On Boys,” which is an interracial gay line.

“There is a real void in high quality interracial gay movies,” said Hush Hush VP of Operations Valerie See. “We expect this line to become a top name in that niche.”
