Spankmo Announces Mobile Video Delivery Network

BARCELONA — Spankmo’s new video delivery network offers a la carte transcoding and delivery services for studio and sponsor partners.

The new service complements Spankmo’s existing managed service solution and is tailored for those studios or sponsor programs that have some technical resources to enter the mobile market directly, yet require specialist mobile video delivery services, the company said.

Built on Spankmo’s platform, the network include three core services: device detection that incorporates more than 2,000 device profiles from public and proprietary databases; media transcoding that’s automated and offers high-quality conversion of videos to dozens of formats, frame sizes and bitrates; and video delivery that’s downloadable, progressive and streams over a variety of mobile protocols from servers in geographically advantageous locations.

“Video on mobile devices is more complex than it is on the web”, Spankmo co-founder Alan Westenbroek said, “and we see lots of companies struggling to get the best possible experience on every device. Spankmo VDN simplifies the process with quick, easy implementation and great results.”
