Hustler.com Targeted in Planned DDoS Attack

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. — A 4Chan splinter group is planning a DDoS attack on Hustler.com, whose parent company recently filed suits targeting more than 5,000 alleged users of BitTorrent networks who downloaded LFP content.

"Anonymous," a collective of 4Chan hackers who defected to form their own vigilante cell, said the attack is scheduled to occur tomorrow at 1 p.m. (PST).

"We are surprised by this announcement by this group," said LFP President Michael Klein, who was alerted to the planned attack by XBIZ. "Obviously our legal actions against the individuals who have stolen our content are valid.

"Theft of content takes away from the company, performers, studio personnel and make-up artists."

The planned DDoS attack on Hustler, part of Operation Payback, is titled "Payback is a bitch" and has called "organized protests against the reign of extreme pro-copyright organizations and watchdogs for the entertainment industries."

A DDoS, or a distributed denial of service, attack oftentimes involves saturating the targeted server with external communications requests, such that it cannot respond to legitimate traffic or responds so slowly as to be rendered effectively unavailable.

LFP filed the BitTorrent suits in the past month against unnamed John Does who may have lifted copies off BitTorrent networks. The films related to the suit include "Barely Teenage Schoolgirls #6", "Barely Legal #100" and "This Aint Avatar XXX."

In a letter on its DDoS initiatives, Anonymous said its efforts "have been compared to waiting for a train."

"What must the people do to be heard? To what lengths must they go to have their pleads taken seriously? Must they to take to the streets with noose and handgun before those in power take notice?"
