Peekay founder Phyllis Heppenstall also will be among the panel of distinguished adult retail chain leaders offering a “Blueprint for Success” at the XBIZ Retail Expo on day one of the inaugural event.
"What fun to be back ‘on the panel,’” Heppenstall said. “I love the audiences the questions, the interaction, the energy that comes from these seminars. And, of course, my passion is to deliver value to those attending.
“As leaders in the industry, represented by those on the panel, we owe it to others to help. We are all part of a great ‘business niche’ and we are all passionate to keep us growing. An industry must grow and expand or shrivel into obsolesence. Not adult! Join us at this dynamic informational seminar."
Founded in 1981 by Heppenstall and her daughter Kris Butt, Peekay is currently celebrating its 30th year.
Peekay operates 31 retail stores, including 20 Lovers stores in Washington State, and 11 A Touch of Romance and ConRev stores in California. Peekay's online presence features six websites, including the three retail brands and a site dedicated to wholesale customers. Peekay’s Lovers store in Tukwila was voted Best Lingerie Store by local patrons for two consecutive years in KING 5 News’ Best of Western Washington contest.
"The adult industry continues to astound me in the progressive movements we are finally able to accomplish,” Heppenstall said. “One must marvel, especially those of us who have ‘watched and waited’ for the level of professionalism that continues to evolve. Peekay's journey of the past 30 years is testament that ‘sustainabilty — doing the right thing,’ will always endure. We are very proud to be considered for this award with our peer group."
The XBIZ Awards will be presented Feb. 9 at the legendary Hollywood Palladium.
