LOS ANGELES — Den, the founder of Cyberspace Adult Video Reviews (CAVR) and one of the most prolific adult film critics in history, has announced his retirement.
A porn fan since the days of silent black & white, 8mm loops, Den has been reviewing numerous genres of adult films online since 1996. He is also a former producer/director of some 200 amateur titles in the mid-1980s.
Den reviewed more than 27,000 DVDs, VHS tapes and internet sex scenes in 15-plus years running CAVR, including 332 reviews during the first quarter of 2011.
In a news post on his site, he said that CAVR.com will remain online courtesy of Jeff Vanzetti of IAFD.com, but no new reviews will be posted.
"First and foremost I want to thank all the porn stars," Den said. "They are very special ladies that I admire, adore and worship!"
He also extended a special thanks to his "All-Time Top Ten Porn Stars" that include Bobbi Starr, Tricia Devereaux, Silvia Saint, Hillary Scott, Dee, Avy Scott, Jewel De'Nyle, Aurora Snow, Gianna Michaels and Francesca Le'.
"I want to thank all the people that have read my reviews over the years," he continued. "I want to thank all of studios that graciously sent me screeners to review. I especially want to thank [Roger T. Pipe] for his inspiration and support. Rog is proof that quality reviews indeed trumps quantity of reviews."
