LOS ANGELES — Traffic broker TrafficShop.com was hit with a DDoS attack today, company officials say.
The DDoS attack affects the company's customer login site, "but traffic is still flowing," says spokesman Chris Lebrun, who notes TrafficShop.com handles 9 million clicks a day, and its clients include companies involved with date cams, herbal products and tube sites.
"The front end is down but the data is saved," Lebrun said. "We plan on being up and ready [sometime Tuesday]."
Lebrun said he believed that the DDoS perpetrators could be the group Anonymous, a 4Chan splinter group.
A DDoS, or a distributed denial of service, attack oftentimes involves saturating the targeted server with external communications requests, such that it cannot respond to legitimate traffic or responds so slowly as to be rendered effectively unavailable.
