LOS ANGELES — DreamZone Entertainment and director Lee Roy Myers have revealed the cast for its modern-day retelling of the Shakespearean classic "Romeo & Juliet."
Rocco Reed will play Romeo, while Anthony Rosano will assume the role of the antagonistic Tybalt. Lady Capulet will be played by India Summer and Romeo’s ex, Rosalyn, will be Andy San Dimas, the reigning XBIZ Performer of the Year. Meanwhile, 2011 XBIZ New Starlet of the Year Chanel Preston has landed the role of Juliet.
The cast for this DreamZone Passion release also includes Tom Byron as the patriarch Capulet, Brian Street Team as Romeo’s loyal friend Benvolio, and Ann Marie Rios as Polly, a new take on Juliet’s attendant (and lover).
DreamZone said that all the characters are written as of-age adults, a marked difference from the original.
According to Myers, the 2011 XBIZ Director of the Year for Body of Work, "Romeo and Juliet" will follow the classic tale but will also include what was too steamy for conventional renditions.
“'Romeo and Juliet' is certainly a passionate tale,” Myers said, “but I am most excited to bring out the sexual aspects of passion between two star-crossed adults.”
"Romeo and Juliet" will be the first feature from DreamZone Passion, a new line specifically geared toward romance and couples-friendly releases.
“The intensity and eroticism of 'Romeo and Juliet' will set the standard for DreamZone Passion,” said DreamZone’s VP of Sales, Adam Hasner. “We are blending Shakespearean-era and modern language and character stylings together to give this familiar tale something totally new and hot for consumers to enjoy.”
The shoot is scheduled for July 15-17.
