LOS ANGELES — The Spearmint Rhino gentlemen's club chain will begin its competition to crown its 2012 Entertainer of the Year tonight at the Torrance, Calif., location.
Contestants from Spearmint Rhino clubs from all over North America will compete throughout October for the grand prize of $5,000 and a one-year feature entertainer's contract.
Dancers are judged on their costume, hair & makeup, crowd interaction, sex appeal, energy and originality. There are three preliminary rounds starting with tonight's contest and continuing on Oct. 6 and Oct. 13. The Finals, which will include the top finishers from each of the prelims, will be held on Oct. 27 in Torrance.
Melrose, a college student and pin-up model representing the City of Industry Rhino, won the 2011 title. This year marks the ninth annual competition. Past champions have included Christina Aguchi (2009), who has gone onto to win more accolades such as 2011 Exotic Dancer Overall Entertainer of the Year this past August.
