BUDAPEST — Hungary is mulling over the possibility of taxing porn websites in order to support the local film industry.
Variety reported that the idea is gaining bi-partisan support from both the ruling center-right Fidesz party and rival liberal LMP party that sponsored the initiative.
The tax would generate revenue for local art house films.
Details on the bill still need to be finalized.
According to film authorities, the country has seen a surge in business since it has given foreign film companies a 20 percent tax break when shooting in Hungary.
