2nd Annual MACC Announced for Reno

RENO, Nev. — The 2nd annual Mobile Adult Content Congress (MACC) will focus on responsible delivery of adult content to mobile devices, according to event organizer Black Marlin Multimedia Group.

The conference, which serves as a forum for a wide-range of top-level industry executives, will run from Oct. 10-12.

“We’re expecting a great turnout,” Dan Garza, president of Black Marlin told XBIZ. “Like last year, we had a range of interests represented, from content producers to carriers. We had an amazing group last year and this year will be better.”

Last year’s congress in Miami boasted more than 100 industry executives, including representatives from major phone carriers. While only one U.S. carrier was in attendance last year, Garza expects more American carriers this time around.

“They [U.S. carriers] know the content is on their networks,” Garza said. “They understand that it’s out there, now they want to know how to share in the revenue.”

While sharing a piece of the revenue pie will be on the minds of the attendees, the primary purpose behind the event has always been heading off regulatory imposition.

“We’re trying to be proactive,” Garza said. “The Internet didn’t regulate itself at the beginning. We’re trying to get the mobile industry to regulate itself by developing content standards and ratings to protect kids. Those are our goals.”

The previous MACC event attracted widespread media coverage from outlets ranging from Reuters, to CNN to Nightline. Proof to Garza that mobile adult content is a very hot topic.

Some of the early announcements for MACC topics include:

· Access Control and Filtering

· Defining Adult Content and Classification

· The Role of the Operator, MVNO and Aggregator

· Successful Business Models for Commerce and Distribution

· How Webmasters can Mobilize

· Regulatory and Legal Issues / Self Regulation

· Current and Projected Future Revenue and Pricing

· Licensing and Branding

· On-Deck vs. Off-Deck

· Balancing Risk vs. Reward

· Revenue Sharing and Billing
