Jamye Waxman, who Royalle tapped to produce and co-write the film, will have the chance to apply what she learned filming “Under the Covers.”
“It was a crash course for Jayme, but that’s how I learned,” Royalle told XBIZ. “She’s got a really great background in production and she got to see how we make a feature. She’s a very quick learner.”
Waxman who is no stranger to production — having worked as a producer for the Joan Rivers Show, Lovebytes with Bob Berkowitz and the Alan Colmes Show — writes a column for Playgirl magazine and is completing her master’s in sex education at Widener University. She is hard at work writing a feature that will mark her directorial debut. Royalle will executive produce that film.
According to Royalle, it’s always been her intention to promote and help guide new female directors. To that end, she is executive producing “Dare,” an urban hip-hop erotica directed by Abiola Abrams, another rising talent, Royalle said.
“Under the Covers” was produced by Royalle’s Femme Productions for Adam & Eve. The comedy set in New York City is scheduled for release in September.
