Defiance to Distribute Starlight Pictures

CALABASAS, Calif. — Defiance Films is getting into the distribution game. The company has signed a deal to distribute product from upstart studio Starlight Pictures.

Starlight will put out one title per month under the agreement, which covers worldwide DVD, broadcast, hotel and Internet distribution of all Starlight productions.

Starlight is owned by Arynn Star, who has worked in sales for a number of adult companies, experience that enabled her to learn about production and build a large network of contacts in the business. Launching her own studio seemed like the logical thing to do with her knowledge, she told XBIZ.

Star, who is acting as Starlight’s director and producer for the female-operated company, said she fielded offers from five distributors but elected to go with Defiance even though it previously had not been involved in distribution for other companies. She said she was particularly impressed by Defiance’s ability to make a name for itself in a relatively short amount of time.

“We looked over the offer, and it was the best choice for us,” she said. “They have a good strategy in place. I can see us working with them for years to come.”

Although all of Starlight’s productions are amateur, they cross several genres, including MILF, threeway, anal and interracial. The company has produced 12 titles so far, establishing series such as “MILF Does A Body Good!,” “Backdoor Bangin',” “3 Ways All Ways,” “Help I'm Horny” and “Mix & Match.”

All of the titles are shot in high-definition, which Star admits is unusual for amateur content but says she believes fans will appreciate.

“We're very enthusiastic about what Arynn and Starlight bring to the table,” Defiance’s head of production Keith O'Connor, said. “Twelve titles, all amateur but mixing it up with lines focused on interracial, MILFs, girl on girl and butt action. The product looks amazing and we at Defiance are eagerly awaiting what Starlight has planned for the future.”

O’Connor added that Defiance may distribute for other studios as well, but only if they serve niches that complement the company’s own productions.
