LOS ANGELES — Adult film star Jessie Andrews on Friday launched a line of women’s jewelry called Bagatiba, which is the Latvian word for “opulence.”
Andrews, the 2012 XBIZ New Starlet of the Year, said that with Bagatiba she wanted to create a collection that is feminine, beautiful and affordable. She is collaborating with Matthew from MatthewMillions.com, a growing L.A.-based handmade jewelry and accessory brand.
Andrews said the project came together in a little less than a week. She came up with the designs and Matthew handcrafted the necklaces and bracelets.
“I picked out everything,” Andrews told XBIZ. “It’s fun. It’s different. To be honest, I never liked jewelry, and I hated gold… But as I got older I started to appreciate gold and different pieces a lot more. I didn’t always love it, but I think these pieces are pieces that people want, and you can’t find them for cheap.”
She added, “Everything I put on the site, I would buy it.”
The 20-year-old Miami native said that her grandfather is Latvian, so the name Bagatiba has deeper meaning.
“I felt like it was the perfect name with everything that it offers,” Andrews continued. “It’s the perfect branding opportunity. I feel like I’m not really in it for the money. I’m in it for the branding of it, and if it becomes something, then that’s great.”
Everything on the site so far — the necklaces, bracelets, rings and earrings — is ready to ship today, Andrews said.
“I had everything made before I launched it,” she said. “These were the key pieces I really wanted for myself. So for now I’ll see how people respond to it and then create more.”
Andrews in January also won the Acting Performance of the Year honor at the 10th annual XBIZ Awards for her lead role in Elegant Angel’s “Portrait of a Call.” She has performed in more than 100 movies in her two-year adult entertainment career.
Some of Andrews' recent on-screen work includes Elegant Angel's "Bush 2," Jules Jordan Video's "Neighborhood Slut Watch," and Digital Sin's "Power and Control." She also performed in two high-profile parodies soon to be released, "Godfather: A DreamZone Parody" from DreamZone Entertainment and "Not Animal House XXX" from X-Play/Adam & Eve.
