NEW YORK — Fashion icon Calvin Klein is about to have his dirty laundry aired by 22-year-old former boyfriend Nicholas Gruber, an ex-gay performer known for his work with Next Door Entertainment and SeanCody.com.
Tentatively titled "What Came Between Me and My Calvin," a cheeky nod to the 69-year-old designer's infamous Calvin Klein ads of the 1980s featuring a 15-year-old Brooke Shields, the tell-all memoir will detail the ins-and-outs of their two-year relationship, which ended in January.
NYDailyNews.com reports that Gruber's book, which is to be co-written with a professional ghostwriter, has triggered a bidding war among publishers and has already garnered two notable offers, with a third expected to be made soon.
"This is the only way he can get closure," Gruber’s ghostwriter told NYDailyNews. "He has a lot of secrets about Calvin and he has the right to tell people. If it was just [Gruber's] story, then there's no way we could sell the thing."
That's not to say Gruber's life hasn't been interesting.
He was sentenced to 20 days community service in Manhattan Criminal Court last week after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor drug charge, stemming from his arrest in April when he allegedly assaulted a man he had been partying with all night.
