LOS ANGELES — When porn production resumes in Budapest, Hungary, during the week of Sept. 3, performers will be required to present STI tests that are no more than 21 days old, including two different tests for syphilis, a representative for one of the city's main talent agencies said Monday.
"We will require all performers to have a valid test within 21 days. We used to accept it for 30 days," Cameron of the Sandy's Models told XBIZ. "All performers must have two different kinds of syphilis tests — RPR and TPHA."
Cameron added, "We used to make only RPR in the past but we have checked it every 30 days. Now we will go back to 21 days and use two different tests. ... I think it would be a good idea to have syphilis tests more frequently in the U.S. too."
Last week the adult production community in Budapest extended its voluntary moratorium on shooting films through Sept. 3 due to the recent syphilis outbreak there. Budapest-based producer/director Rocco Siffredi said Friday he estimated more than 40 performers in Budapest are infected with syphilis and a total of "89 to 100" in Eastern Europe, including performers based in Prague, Czech Republic and St. Petersburg, Russia.
Porn performers in Budapest, one of the hubs of porn shooting in Europe, have been under the moratorium for about three weeks.
