Oron Files Another Appeal in Corbin Fisher Case

LAS VEGAS — Attorneys for Oron.com have asked the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals to rehear the appeals court's three-judge panel's decision to stay enforcement of a $550,000 judgment.

The judgment was the result of Corbin Fisher's contested settlement deal with Oron after the gay adult studio claimed the file-locker site was responsible for millions in damages from lost revenue.

A 9th Circuit panel last month agreed with a lower court decision that the settlement agreement was indeed valid and ordered that no further filings be accepted in the copyright infringement case, which it described as closed.

The notice of appeal, filed Wednesday, asked the 9th Circuit to review orders granting a temporary restraining order against Oron, orders on motions for disbursement of funds to keep the file-locker site running and nearly all procedural rulings leading up to orders in the case.

The 9th Circuit also has been asked to take a second look at the clerk's judgment to award Corbin Fisher $550,000, as well as this week's decision to award the gay studio $132,000 in attorneys fees.

XBIZ calls to Oron counsel David Kahn and Stevan Lieberman to elaborate on the appeal went unreturned at post time.

Meanwhile, Marc Randazza and Ronald Green of Randazza Legal Group, who both had been litigating the case, have notifed the court that they have tapped substitute counsel. Randazza is Corbin Fisher's general counsel.

The law firm of Greenberg Traurig of Las Vegas now represents Corbin Fisher in the Oron case.

Oron also faces copyright infringement cases in suits waged by Raging Stallion/Falcon and Flava Works.
