LOS ANGELES — Bollywood director Rupesh Paul announced at the 2012 American Film Market that he would shoot the sex scenes for "Kamasutra 3D" in Los Angeles to avoid public protest in India.
The erotic drama stars controversial Hindi cinema starlet Sherlyn Chopra, the first woman in India to pose completely nude for Playboy magazine.
Not much is known about Chopra's role in the film other than it's central to the story and involves nudity.
"I was getting calls from my friends, warning me that no nude scenes should be shot in India," Paul told HindustanTimes.com. "It may create unwanted issues. Some communal organisations can even exploit the situation just to make headlines."
"Considering the touchy cultural atmosphere and the people’s sentiments; we have decided to shoot the scenes outside India."
Chopra is no stranger to India's conservative attitudes. The 28-year-old model-turned-actress continues to experience backlash in her homeland from her Playboy pictorial.
