QUEENSLAND, Australia — Sex toys among Australians are now more popular than ever according to an infographic compiled by a local pleasure products company.
More than 75 percent of people surveyed in 2012 by Pleasure Den admitted to frequently enjoying the use of sex toys, lingerie and bondage toys.
And the majority said it’s usually more than one item, with 70 percent of men and women having more than three products in their collections.
The company also fund that pleasure product sales on the rise with 28 percent of users upgrading to a new toy every few months.
Statistics show that many Australian’s no longer regard sex toys as a taboo subject, and that 25 percent of users have absolutely no shame in talking about it openly. According to the company, the popular release of “Fifty Shades of Grey” can be seen as a major contributing factor to this new social acceptance.
And there's good news for the near future. Nearly 70 percent of users are now buying sex toys online and with Valentine’s Day around the corner the firm expects to see a higher than usual spike in sales as partners opt for naughty novelties over chocolates and roses. “We also found that a massive 25 percent of toy owner’s use their toys several times per week and that Queensland beats every other state when it comes to sex toy usage and online browsing habits,” Pleasure Den said.
