Babeland Announces Project Sex Toy Winners

LOS ANGELES — Babeland, a bi-coastal, women-friendly sexuality boutique has revealed the winners of its Project Sex Toy design contest. Cash prizes, gift certificates and goodie bags filled with more than $500 worth of sex toys were awarded to the top three winners.

The Duette, a finger ring-shaped vibrator took top honors for its innovative design and discreet size. Via Multi-Stim Vibe, which took its design cues from the popular rabbit-style vibrators featured a wave mechanism in the center of the device and garnered second place, and Made to Measure Pleasure, which is not a sex toy, but a customized online ordering system that allows shoppers to select the size, shape and material for their sex toy that suits them best took third place honors.

The Octopussey, designed with eight arms that can be manipulated in many directions for inventive experimentation, was named the People’s Choice award, based on customer voting on the Babeland website.

Babeland co-founder Rachel Venning explained that the criteria the judges voted on were marketability, originality, functionality, aesthetics and innovation.

DJs Confucius and Bunny of Rabbit In The Moon provided the musical entertainment while the panel of judges calculated the scores of the 10 finalists. Smirnoff sponsored special Babe-a-lini cocktails for the event and Food Fetish supplied catering services for the event, which took place at Babeland’s Melrose Avenue location in Los Angeles.

The panel of judges included Dr. Jennifer Berman, urologist and expert on female sexual medicine; Dr. Janet Lever, research scientist and Glamour contributor; Christian Trinker, CEO of Funfactory USA and Sylvie Vaught, celebrity hairstylist.

“We were truly awed by both the range and the quality of designs we received during the call-for-entries,” Venning said. “It’s always so gratifying to hear from our customers — real people — about what they want in an erotic toy. The Project Sex Toy contest takes that feedback, creativity and desire and brings it to life.”

Event sponsors included Doc Johnson, Fun Factory, Vibratex, Vixen Creations, Sportsheets, Big Tease Toys, D.A.V.E., and Tantus.
