Calif.'s AB 332 Tabled, Referred to Labor Panel

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A state legislative panel tabled discussion on Assembly Bill 332 today, referring it to another committee for action.

The 9 a.m. meeting was to be the first time a committee would hear language of the bill, and just two hour before a planned press conference at the AIDS Healthcare Foundation's headquarters in Hollywood, Calif., over its filing of the first complaint under the new Los Angeles County condoms in porn law.

The AHF, the sponsor behind last year's Measure B, claims it received an anonymous letter alleging that Immoral Productions was producing condom-less porn movies and has made a formal complaint against the San Fernando Valley studio.

The state Assembly panel on the Arts, Entertainment, Sports, Tourism and Internet Media legislative committee tabled the discussion of the bill and referred it to the Assembly Labor and Employment Committee for further action, according to Terry Schanz, Assemblyman Isadore Hall's press secretary.

"AB 332 continues to receive overwhelming support from industry leaders, health, women’s organizations and residents throughout California," Schanz told XBIZ.

AB 332 was introduced last month by Hall and mirrors Measure B, which makes condoms mandatory for porn shoots in Los Angeles County.

Hall's new proposal, denounced by adult entertainment trade group Free Speech Coalition and a majority of the industry, would mandate barrier protection for adult productions shot statewide.
