LOS ANGELES — Rock drummer Phil Varone, the director of Vivid Entertainment’s swingers adult series, will rejoin his band Saigon Kick for their first L.A. reunion performance this Saturday at The Viper Room.
The Viper Room, which was founded by Johnny Deep in 1993, is located at 8852 Sunset Blvd.
The 9 p.m. performance of the band that won a Gold Record for "Love is on the Way" is sold-out, but the music will continue at an open-to-the-public after party starting at 11. Guests need only show up and mention “Vivid” for free admission to the party up to legal capacity allows.
Original band members Matt Kramer, Jason Bieler and Chris McLernon will be joining Varone for the performance and after-party, at which flat screens will show footage from Varone’s Vivid movies. Guests will walk away with lots of free swag, including DVDs of “Phil Varone’s Secret Sex Stash,” “Swinging American Style: Texas F*ck ‘Em,” and “Swinging American Style: Vegas or Bust.”
"It's going to be an amazing night,” Varone said. “First I get to play drums with my old friends in Saigon Kick and then as if playing drums wasn't enough, I get to premiere my other love, directing Vivid's 100% 'Real Swingers' series. Life is good!"
