LAS VEGAS — The Home Pleasure Party Plan Association (HPPPA) partnered with a number of its Associate Members during last month’s International Lingerie Show to conduct product presentations during HPPPA’s Product Knowledge Day program.
In order to offer opportunities for business enhancement, HPPPA conducts educational activities for its home party plan owners during ILS.
On the show’s opening day, HPPPA’s presentations were conducted by Jeff Northup of SX Science Labs, Scott Watkins of Wet International, Emily Uhrik and Michele Treyes of Standard Innovation (We Vibe), Leslie (Lulu) Andersen-Daniels of NS Novelties and Emily Silva of Sportsheets.
Members learned about product usages, ingredients, benefits and marketing ideas, the organization said. HPPPA member, Francine Terrell of Salacious Treats (Antioch, Calif.) said of the Product Knowledge Day: “I enjoyed the presentations because they gave me an opportunity to try it and learn how to sell it before I go see my distributor(s) to order.”
Kim Varner, member liaison/member services and benefits manager said, “HPPPA conduct Product Knowledge Day to not only educate our party plan owners about what’s new but to also lend additional support to our manufacturer members in getting the word out about their product offerings. We appreciate our manufacturer members so much. We truly value the relationships we’ve built and we are appreciative of their participation in our programs.”
The Home Pleasure Party Plan Association also conducted “a day of business growth and development activities” on day two of ILS.
Two workshops were presented on Tuesday, April 9. The first presentation, “Material Witness,” was a conducted by Tamara Payton-Bell, HPPPA’s founder and association director. The focus was on the types of materials used to make adult toys. Payton-Bell covered everything from rubber, elastomer and plastics, to glass, TPR and silicone grades.
“Product buyers need to be knowledgeable about what the materials the toys they’re buying are made of; not just for their own information but to be able to offer their customers products that are compatible with their bodies and that are right for their needs,” she said.
Varner hosted the second presentation “Bodacious Bundling,” an interactive session where participants learned to create product bundles at every price point. At the end of the presentation, attendees created their own product bundles to reinforce what was discussed during the presentation.
To round out the Business Growth and Development Day program, members participated in an open forum where any number of topics specific to home pleasure party plans was covered.
Sheba Mills, owner of Sweet Sensations (Brooklyn, N.Y.) said, “I learned a lot about ways I can improve my business. I learned some things I can do to increase my sales and book more parties.”
